Kit, a young British Vietnamese man, returns to his birth country for the first time in over 30 years, having escaped with his parents as refugees in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. Unable to speak the native language and unfamiliar with the sights and sounds of the country, Kit finds himself distracted by his painful separation from Vietnam, a country still living in its post-war shadows. Travelling the country to find a resting place for his late mother’s ashes, Kit forges new, healing relationships, both with the country itself and the people he meets along the way. A thoughtful and strikingly elegant portrait of the emigrant experience from the director of 2014’s Lilting, with a stellar performance from leading man Henry Golding.
