Lifting its central story from Elmore Leonard's 1992 novel Rum Punch, Tarantino's third major feature pays homage to the 'blaxploitation' genre of the 1970s and features one of the era's great stars in Pam Grier. She plays the titular middle-aged flight attendant, whose cash-smuggling work for Los Angeles gun-runner Ordell Robbie (Samuel L. Jackson) soon lands her in hot water.
