Hayao Miyazaki Japan 2013 DCP 127 minutesRated PG – Contains brief bloody image, smoking scenes

A decades-spanning epic from master filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, inspired by the life of Jiro Horikoshi, visionary designer of one the most beautiful aeroplanes in history – the famed Zero fighter – and the writer Tatsuo Hori.

This tale of love and perseverance in a turbulent world is brought to life by the vivid animation of Studio Ghibli. Jiro dreams of flying and designing aeroplanes. In his fantasy world, up in the clouds, he befriends Caproni, an Italian aeronautical engineer who designs amazing flying machines.

Jiro studies hard and joins a major Japanese engineering company in 1927. His bright intelligence and dedication will lead him to become an elite engineer, and creator of the state-of-the-art fighter bomber put into service just as Japan was contemplating war with the US.

The following screenings of The Wind Rising will be shown in the English language dubbed version, all other screenings will be subtitled.
