Set in the shadow of an active volcano on a Vanuatuan island, this Australia/Vanuatu co-production has non-professional local actors from one of the last truly tribal societies inhabit the roles in a film based on true events. This Oscar® nominated story of tribal divides, forbidden love and family loyalty is heartfelt, well told and set against the backdrop of lush rainforest and scorched volcanic terrain. The third collaboration between its two directors (and their first non-documentary), Tanna proves cinema's enduring power to transport and enthrall.
