A wonderfully performed, unsentimental story of love and longing in the Yorkshire Pennines. Francis Lee's debut feature had its UK Premiere (and won the Michael Powell Award) at EIFF, and is certainly one of the best British films of the year. Young Johnny (Josh O'Connor) works hard on the family farm, seeking solace and escape through drink and casual sex. This monotony is broken when Romanian worker Gheorghe (Alec Secareanu) arrives, and the strength of feeling between them comes to a head when they set off for the hills to repair a stone wall...
